AMF invests 5 million euros in a new facility
Located in Lousada, in the north of Portugal, the new facility of the Portuguese safety footwear company AMF Safety Shoes will be equipped with innovative technologies in the area of injections
With a foreseen investment of 5 million euros planned for the next three years, the new facility will include new technologies in the area of injections, namely specific machines “that do not yet exist in the market”, said the director of AMF, Albano Fernandes. “These are intensive investments in machinery. We intend to make the model factory of this technology in Lousada, with different ways of making footwear”.

The new space will also be the place where clients will be received, employees trained and where the company's personal protective equipment shop will be located. Albano Fernandes admits that the future of the group may involve further investments in Lousada. “We believe that Lousada will be the future of all our investments” because it offers better conditions in terms of people, location and logistics.

He added that in the beginning, the new facility will employ around 25 to 30 people, but this number is expected to grow over time, as it happened in other facilities of the group.

Currently, AMF exports 85% of its production of individual protection equipment, mainly to Europe (Germany, Scandinavia, Switzerland and the Netherlands), but is working on reaching the US and Canadian markets. For more information, please refer to AMF's website.
