MICAM and MIPEL close on a global high

Celebrating MICAM’s centenary edition, the Milano fairs drew strong international participation, showcased new trends and confirmed their return to the Fashion Link Milano calendar for February 2026

MICAM and MIPEL have reaffirmed their status as an international hub in footwear and leather goods, closing their September 2025 edition, from September 7 to 9, at Fieramilano Rho, with 20,362 visitors. Of these, 43% from Italy and 57% came from abroad, representing 126 countries, with particularly strong participation from Spain, Germany, France, Poland, China, Japan, Nigeria and South Africa. The two events showcased Spring/Summer 2026 collections from more than a thousand brands, offering a platform that brought together both Italian manufacturers and global labels.

Institutional representatives emphasised the importance of the fairs to Italy’s fashion ecosystem. Giuseppe Valditara, Minister of Education and Merit, stressed that the government’s support for training and local manufacturing is an essential pillar of Made in Italy competitiveness.

In addition, Adolfo Urso, Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, praised the sector’s commitment to sustainability, research and innovation. Another public figure, Senator Maurizio Gasparri, described trade fairs as key drivers of exports and strategic global relationships.

The September edition also marked a milestone for MICAM, which celebrated its 100^th edition. The occasion was commemorated with the issue of a special stamp by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, part of the “Excellences of the Production System and Made in Italy” series. The exhibition ‘100 STEPS INTO THE FUTURE’ traced the fair’s journey from its origins in Vigevano in 1931 to its current global standing.

Despite being held earlier than their usual place within the Fashion Link Milano calendar, both MICAM and MIPEL maintained strong attendance. Organisers have announced that the fairs will return to their traditional joint calendar in 2026. The next editions, MICAM 101 and MIPEL 129, will return to Fieramilano Rho from February 22 to 24, 2026.
