Centenary edition of MICAM to showcase 870 brands

Since its early beginnings in Vigevano, the cradle of Italian shoemaking and host of the first footwear exhibition in 1931, the event has evolved into a leading showcase for the footwear industry. The turning point came in 1974 when the National Association of Italian Footwear Manufacturers took over its management, “establishing MICAM as a global leader”.
“Over time, it has successfully combined Italian and international craftsmanship, a passion for shoemaking, constant innovation and a forward-looking vision”, reads the statement.
The upcoming September edition will showcase 870 brands, of which 401 will be Italian and 469 will be international. The top five exhibiting countries among the international brands will be Spain, Turkey, Brazil, Germany and Portugal. The organisation expects to welcome 30,000 buyers from 150 countries.
This commemorative edition will open with a ceremony featuring the launch of a special stamp from the “Excellences of the Production System and Made in Italy” series.
Alongside the presentation of the new Spring/Summer 2026 collections, there will be a special exhibition called ‘100 STEPS INTO THE FUTURE’, which will trace the evolution of taste, style and technology through iconic images. “Each decade will be represented by two models: one lifestyle shoe reflecting everyday trends, and one technical sport shoe symbolising innovation and performance”, revealed the organisation.
Other highlights include the Trends & Materials area, which features an AI-based Buyer Guide designed to support purchasing decisions and reduce unsold stock, and the Future of Retail space, showcasing companies dedicated to innovative ideas aimed at transforming retail (WOV LABS, SIZEWISE, WEEV, YOCABE, MAGICSTORE and 1956 INDIVIDUALS).
The event will also celebrate the work of 12 emerging international designers, showcasing “the creativity and innovation shaping tomorrow”. Young Italian start-ups (NETX Milano, Steve’s, YU.SH) will also be in the spotlight.
It is also worth noting that the centenary of MICAM coincides with the 80th anniversary of Assocalzaturifici, the association representing over 400 Italian footwear companies and the organiser of the fair.
