Ennio Fontana has worked alongside German designer Philipp Plein, of whom he was the right-hand man, for over two decades. He helds a minority stake in Billionaire, the luxury men's clothing brand that passed into the hands of the Swiss group in 2016. Ennio Fontana will succeed Gian Giacomo Ferraris, who has led Roberto Cavalli since 2016 and who is guaranteeing the transition until the end of 2020, when his term ends. This appointment is part of the ongoing restructuring process of the Italian luxury fashion company.
 
Acquired in 2019 by Dubai billionaire Hussain Sajwani, founder and President of real estate giant Damac Properties, Roberto Cavalli, who has been struggling in recent years and has yet to find an Artistic Director since Paul Surridge's departure in 2019, has started last year a major restructuring.
