Viva Magenta is the colour of the year 2023
Pantone selected Viva Magenta 18-1750 as the colour for 2023, taking inspiration from nature to galvanize "our spirit" and help us "build our inner strength", thus encouraging us to write our narratives
"In this age of technology, we look to draw inspiration from nature and what is real. Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta descends from the red family, and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known", commented Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone Colour Institute.

The company's colour consultancy believes that next year's colour is "powerful and empowering", encouraging us to write a new narrative. "Encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint, an electrifying, and a boundaryless shade that is manifesting as a stand-out statement", added Pantone.

Pantone Colour of the year reflects a culture and lifestyle trend occurring globally "at that moment in time", explained the Institute's Vice President Laurie Pressman in an interview about the selection process. "It is about what we see for the immediate upcoming year", she added, emphasizing that it is a colour seen across all areas of design. For this reason, the selection falls upon Institute members from a wide range of design, cultural and geographical backgrounds.

About Pantone

Pantone delivers colour solutions for all its customers since 1963 and its colour language is used by designers worldwide to access colour trends, communicate colour choices, and control consistency of colour within different surfaces, textures, materials, and finishes. In 1985, it was created the Pantone Colour institute to educate and promote fluency in this language.
