Sports footwear sales down by 75% in the US
According to NPD Group’s weekly retail tracking service in the 5th week of March the drop in sports footwear sales reached 75%, in line with the previous week decline
Sports footwear sales for the week ended on the 4th of April (5th week of March) compared to the same week in 2019 dropped by about -75%, which is in line with the decline from the previous week. This was reported by the NPD Group through its Weekly Retail Tracking Service.

According to the same source, sports lifestyle, the largest category, declined by about 75%, as did skate footwear. Performance running and training shoes were down about -70% while performance basketball had their sales contract by more than 80%. Baseball, football and soccer shoes were down nearly 100%, as spring sports are postponed or cancelled in most states. Hiking shoes declined by about 80%.
