Henkel opens new application centre in Indonesia

Henkel is opening a new application centre in Central Java to support footwear and fashion manufacturers with adhesive technologies, product development and production innovation
The German multinational specialising in adhesives and bonding technologies, including solutions used in footwear manufacturing, has opened a new application centre in Semarang, Central Java, with the aim of strengthening its support for footwear and fashion manufacturers in one of Indonesia’s key production regions.
The new facility, which spans approximately 1,400 sqm, features dedicated application laboratories, specialised testing equipment, and collaboration spaces. It will give manufacturers closer access to technical expertise and product development support, with a focus on accelerating product development, improving speed-to-market, and offering enhanced technical services and supporting customers’ sustainability goals.
“As demand continues to grow, we are investing in capabilities that bring us closer to customers and enable us to better support their evolving needs. The new Application Center in Central Java expands our innovation footprint in Indonesia and reflects our long-term commitment to growing alongside our customers and the industry”, commented Corbett Wallace, Corporate Vice President, Consumer Goods Business at Henkel Adhesive Technologies.
The investment also underscores the significance of Central Java as a footwear manufacturing hub. “By establishing this new Application Center, we are strengthening our presence across Indonesia, providing customers with faster access to technical expertise, testing capabilities and application support,” said Dharmesh Shah, Head of Consumer Goods Business, Asia-Pacific at Henkel Adhesive Technologies.
In addition to serving as a technical and innovation hub, the new centre will promote knowledge sharing and capability development by holding customer workshops, running technical training programmes, and engaging with the industry.
The new facility complements Henkel’s existing manufacturing sites in Tangerang and Pasuruan, as well as its regional Innovation Centre in Bintaro, thereby expanding the company’s technical and innovation network in Indonesia.
