Dolce & Gabbana reshapes leadership

The Italy-based fashion house has appointed Stefano Cantino as co-chief executive officer, while the company’s co-founder, Stefano Gabbana, stepped down from his formal governance roles
Stefano Cantino has been appointed co-chief executive officer of Dolce & Gabbana, alongside Alfonso Dolce. “I am pleased to have Stefano Cantino by my side in this new phase of growth and development of Dolce & Gabbana”, said Alfonso Dolce, Dolce & Gabbana CEO and brother of co-founder Domenico Dolce.
Cantino was CEO of Gucci from January to September 2025, having joined as deputy CEO in 2024. Prior to that, he spent five years at Louis Vuitton heading up communications and image, and two decades at the Prada Group, finishing as director of communications and marketing.
This appointment follows the departure of co-founder Stefano Gabbana as chairman. According to an Italian corporate filing, Gabbana, who founded the design house with his former partner, Domenico Dolce, stepped down in December. However, this move has “no impact whatsoever on the creative activities” he carries out on behalf of the group.
The leadership changes come amid softer global demand for luxury goods and an effort to restructure the company’s finances. “With regard to the debt position, the group has no statement to make at this time, as negotiations with the banks are still ongoing”.
