Crocs and thredUP partner up
The US-based brand, known for its clogs, has teamed up with the second-hand platform to launch the Clean Out programme. The initiative aims at giving items a second life
"Crocs shoes are incredibly durable and perfectly built for a second life, so encouraging customers to consider reuse is extremely important to us. Crocs and thredUP are both committed to keeping products in use and out of landfills, and we're thrilled to partner with thredUP to reduce our environmental footprint and bring us one step closer to achieving our net-zero goal by taking action to create a more comfortable world”, commented Michelle Poole, Brand President at Crocs.

Leveraging thredUP’s Resale-as-a-Service (RaaS) technology, the clog-maker is inviting US consumers to send in any used apparel, shoes and accessories from any brand to ThredUP by generating a prepaid shipping label from Crocs’ website. Once the items are received, they must pass a quality inspection before being listed on the resale platform. Shoppers whose items are listed will receive a shopping credit that can be used to purchase any items in-store or online.

Pooja Sethi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of RaaS at thredUP, has stated that "Crocs has put tremendous emphasis around reducing environmental impact and waste, and thredUP is humbled to be part of their sustainability journey. By enabling Crocs customers to give preloved items a second life through thredUP's Resale-as-a-Service, we're promoting reuse and inching closer to a more circular future for fashion."

The programme is part of Crocs’ strategy to achieve net-zero by 2030. The brand joins other brands and retailers who are already delivering resale experiences to their customers using thredUP’s technology, including adidas, GAP and Madewell.
