Birkenstock opens first community workshop store in China

The Germany-based footwear company has opened its first community workshop store in China. Located at HKRI Taikoo Hui in Shanghai, it is part of the company’s retail expansion in the country
According to the statement, “the Birkenstock HKRI Taikoo Hui community experience store in Shanghai marks an important step in the brand’s expanding presence in the Chinese market and its localized strategic layout”.
The new store offers a combination of retail, footwear care and personalised engraving services, as well as foot care treatments. It also serves as a venue for workshops and community events. Customers can book foot care treatments via the Birkenstock WeChat mini programme.
The store stocks the full range of the brand’s products, including sandals, clogs, closed-toe shoes and children’s shoes. The range also includes professional footwear, such as the Boston Pro and Tokio Pro models, which are designed for people who stand or walk for long periods of time.
Designed to combine retail with customer engagement, the Shanghai store features displays showcasing Birkenstock’s cork-latex footbed technology and the company’s shoemaking heritage.
“Going forward, the brand will continue to deepen exchanges and collaboration with diverse local cultural communities through this community experience store, allowing more Chinese consumers to immerse themselves in the charm of natural walking”, the company concluded.
