Simac Tanning Tech gears up for September return
Simac Tanning Tech will return to Milan in September, bringing together 290 exhibitors and brands from over 20 countries to present more than 1,500 technological solutions for the footwear, leather goods and tanning industries
Taking place from the 15th to the 17th of September in Halls 14 and 18 at Fiera Milano Rho, the International Exhibition for Technology and Machinery in the Footwear, Leather Goods and Tanning Industries intends to provide a comprehensive overview of the sector and the strategic choices that companies in these industries can make to improve their processes.

The 52nd edition will showcase over 1,500 technological solutions from 290 exhibitors and brands spanning more than 20 countries. According to the organisation, this reflects the wide range of offerings covering the entire production cycle, from design and cutting to stitching, assembly, tanning processes, chemicals, finishing and digital process control. Key areas will include automation, artificial intelligence, machine and data integration, resource efficiency and quality and process control.

Visitors from more than 90 countries are also expected, with a growing number under 30 showing particular interest in sustainability and innovation. This year, the new Innovation Atlas will help attendees discover the latest developments showcased by exhibitors. The Atlas is accessible for free through the event catalogue.

The buyer attending Simac Tanning Tech is an industrial decision-maker, called upon to assess investments that affect a company’s competitiveness and the quality of the final product”, explains Agostino Apolito, CEO of the event. He argues that choosing a technology is not about selecting a single machine.

“Automation, digital integration, traceability, energy efficiency, data management and services associated with technology are driving companies towards increasingly connected controllable and flexible production systems. Technology is becoming part of the very organisation of the factory, linking performance, quality and the ability to respond to market needs”, he emphasises.

The collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) will continue, bringing more than 120 international operators to the event in 2026, with a particular focus on Latin America. Partnerships with ACCAL, which represents footwear and components industry associations across 13 Latin American countries, and IILA, the Italo-Latin American International Organisation, will further promote market opportunities and cooperation across the region.

Turning to Africa, after last year’s focus on Kenya, this edition will focus on Egypt and the Robbiki Leather City project. This will involve AICS Cairo and the Egyptian institutions involved in developing the leather industrial district.

The event is returning to Milan alongside Lineapelle, MICAM Milano, MIPEL, TheOneMilano and Milano Fashion & Jewels. Together, these trade fairs provide a comprehensive overview of the supply chain, covering markets, designs, products and the technologies and processes behind production.
