H&M and Stella McCartney collaborate again after 20 years

The Sweden-based fashion retailer has announced a new collaboration with designer Stella McCartney, nearly 20 years after their debut partnership, with sustainability at its core

Due to launch in spring 2026, the collection will feature certified, responsible materials, many of which are recycled, showcasing alternatives to conventional fabrics and textiles. At the same time, it will celebrate McCartney’s design DNA, revisiting signature styles, iconic silhouettes and house codes from the history of her brand.

“I’m excited to reunite with H&M 20 years after our first collaboration. Reworking pieces from my archive brought back so much energy and joy. This second partnership feels like a chance to look at how far we’ve come on sustainability, cruelty-free practices and conscious designs – and to stay honest about how far we still have to go, together”, Stella McCartney said.

Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s Creative Adviser, pointed out that “Stella is a true ground breaker”, and that “her moral compass and tireless commitment to sustainable practices” have long inspired everyone at H&M. She added that it is an honour to be partnering with the designer on such an ambitious project.

A key part of the collaboration, however, is the establishment of a new Insights Board. This initiative aims to bring together different voices and perspectives from across the fashion industry to find new ways for brands and the industry as a whole to drive change and raise awareness of animal welfare and innovation-driven solutions.

“Central to McCartney’s and H&M’s vision is the belief that sustainability must remain something that the fashion industry talks about, in a way that promotes transparency, discussion and, most importantly, hope”, the statement reads.
