Gucci fully acquires Colonna Group tannery
Gucci Logistica, a subsidiary of Kering, has increased its stake in the Colonna Group to 100% for an undisclosed sum, thus strengthening its investment in the leather industry
Gucci Logistica, responsible for the design, development, engineering, production, purchasing, sales, import and export of Gucci branded products, has held a 51% stake in the tannery since 2019, but is now also acquiring the remaining 49%. The acquisition, which involves four companies, three of which are active in the tanning sector, has been approved by the Italian antitrust authority AGCM. The value of the transaction has not been disclosed.
Colonna, a long-standing supplier of Gucci, controls the Marbella Pellami, Conceria 800 and Falco Pellami tanneries, located between Florence and Pisa in the Tuscan industrial district of Santa Croce sull’Arno, one of Italy’s main hubs for tanning and leather manufacturing. This deal underlines Gucci’s commitment to strengthening its leather supply chain.
Kering owns another tannery in Tuscany, Caravel, based in the province of Pisa, which specialises in the supply and tanning of rare skins. In 2013, the luxury group also acquired France Croco, one of the most known tanneries in France, located in Normandy and specialising in the supply, tanning and processing of crocodile skins.
