Genesco announces leadership transition at Schuh

The US-based footwear retailer Genesco has appointed Tomas Petersson as president of its UK business, Schuh. He replaces Colin Temple, who is retiring after 38 years with the company

Petersson has extensive leadership experience in multi-branded footwear retail businesses, focusing on youth culture. He was most recently Foot Locker’s Senior Vice President and General Manager for the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), and previously served as the company’s Global General Manager of atmos, its premium sneaker business. He also held other senior executive roles at Foot Locker, INTERSPORT and Puma.

Over the coming months, he will work closely with Temple to ensure a seamless transition and maintain continuity for Schuh’s employees, partners and customers.

Andy Gray, the CEO of Journeys’ Global Retail Group, emphasised that Tomas’s international experience and proven ability to grow retail businesses make him the right leader to build on the company’s current momentum at Journeys Global Retail Group. This group unites US footwear retailer Journeys, schuh, and Canada’s Little Burgundy under a unified leadership structure, bringing together Genesco’s youth-focused footwear businesses.

He also thanked Temple for his “extraordinary contributions” to the business over the past four decades. “He leaves behind a strong team, a distinctive brand, and a business that is well positioned for continued success”.
