FSNYE cancels December event amid rising NYC hotel prices

The Footwear Show New York Expo (FSNYE) has cancelled its upcoming trade event, scheduled to take place from the 1st to the 3rd of December, due to significant hotel rate increases in New York City

The FSNYE organisation has announced that the previously planned edition at the Park Lane Hotel will not be held later this year. This is due to “significant increases in hotel rates across the market”, which have reached levels “that are not sustainable for exhibitors or aligned with the marketplace experience that FSNYE is committed to providing”.

According to the statement, hotel room rates for the December 2026 market period increased by between 47% and 55% compared to previous rates, making the event financially unworkable for many exhibitors.

“Rather than pass these costs on to the brands and companies that participate in FSNYE, we believe postponing the December marketplace is the most responsible decision”, said Phyllis Rein, President & CEO of Footwear Show New York Expo.

“Our priority has always been to create a marketplace where exhibitors receive a strong return on their investment and buyers can efficiently discover the collections they need”, she continued, adding that producing the December event under the current hotel market conditions would not meet the standards established by previous events.

The organisation also confirmed that this decision only applies to the December event and does not mark the end of FSNYE. Plans for the next marketplace are currently being explored, which is currently scheduled to take place from the 8^th to the 10^thof June 2027. More details will be announced as plans are finalised.
