Assocalzaturifici confirms Giovanna Ceolini as President
Giovanna Ceolini has been confirmed as President of the Italian Footwear Manufacturers’ Association until 2027, after taking up the role on an interim basis in August 2022
Sustainability, digitalisation, innovation, Made in Italy and the tertiary sector as a driving force for the development of the sector, with a focus on training to make footwear attractive to young people, will be the guiding principles of her mandate, announced the association, which represents over 450 companies in the footwear manufacturing sector in Italy.
“It is indeed with great emotion that I face this mandate of mine”, commented Ceolini. “We have a challenging job ahead of us. We have to respond to a conjuncture that is not easy, in a geopolitical framework dominated by uncertainty, with initiatives and projects that support our companies in international markets. Today, more than ever, it is important to put the interests of the industry, and therefore our Association, back at the centre”, she urged.
Ceolini stressed the importance of promoting Made in Italy footwear around the world, consolidating mature markets and seeking new opportunities in emerging ones, as well as encouraging closer collaboration with the main technical institutes and vocational schools to encourage generational change. Other objectives are the promotion of third-party companies (contract development and manufacturing organisations) in defence of traditional Italian craftsmanship and the promotion of a comprehensive sustainability strategy.
To this end, she will work alongside Giuseppe Baiardo, Vice President for Training and Orientation, Luisa Benigno, Vice President for Business Culture and Productive Strategies, Giuseppe Camerlengo, Vice President for International Affairs, and Valentino Fenni, Vice President for Russia, the C.S.I. area and Made in Italy.
