Zouri, sneakers from the ocean
Zouri is an eco-vegan footwear brand that uses plastic trash from the Portuguese coast together with ecologic and sustainable materials
Every year, over 22 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean. Having that in mind Portuguese-based brand Zouri focused on a plan to do something about it and managed to get a group of six hundred volunteers from local institutions, NGOs and schools to help clean the local coast. As a result, this year Zouri has removed 1 ton of plastic from the Portuguese beaches.

It is in the heart of Portugal, in Guimarães, a city with a long history in the shoe making industry, that all Zouri shoes are produced. 100% made in Portugal, the brand is focusing on a production that is both fair and ethical.

The factory in Guimarães guarantees that every pair of sneakers has the same detail and perfection applied to its design and manufacturing processes. As a guarantee of what the company's mission and values all sneakers sold are accompanied with a letter detailing the materials used in that pair, as well as the quantities and the location of the plastic. The name of the people involved in making each pair of Zouris is also included in the letter.

This brand is highly focused on being transparent, a characteristic with a high demand by consumers, and one of the trends currently in discussion.

According to the brand, each pair of Zouri sneakers reuses 6 plastic bottles taken from the ocean.

Over the last two years, Zouri worked and researched for the best eco-friendly and vegan materials, and for that the plastic trash is being transformed into raw material, mixed with natural materials like: organic cotton, natural rubber and pineapple leaves fabric - Pinatex.
