Mariano Shoes invests in the women’s segment
The Portuguese luxury shoe brand has acquired a production unit that has been in business for over 40 years to increase its production capacity and expand its women’s range
Mariano Shoes has acquired a footwear factory that has been in business for over 40 years, producing women’s footwear. This move will enable the company to increase its production capacity, in line with its expansion plan and with the aim of broadening the range of footwear in its women’s collections.

With the acquisition of this unit in Oliveira de Azeméis, one of Portugal’s largest footwear-producing regions, Mariano Shoes will keep all the employees of the two companies, which translates into a significant increase in production capacity, particularly when it comes to the manufacture of women’s footwear, especially high-heeled shoes.

In this regard, the brand expects to increase the range of models to be presented in the women’s collection during 2024, a fact that will be fundamental to its internalization strategy in several markets to which it currently exports.

“Mariano Shoes will continue to promote sustainable luxury fashion and produce luxury Portuguese footwear, with the highest quality materials and a distinctive and elegant design. This increase in production capacity is in line with our commitment to offering the best product, as well as a personalised service of excellence”, comments Fátima Oliveira, CEO of Mariano Shoes.

About Mariano Shoes

Founded in 1945, Mariano has always been and will continue to be present in one of Portugal’s largest footwear-producing regions. Affiliated with the municipalities of São João da Madeira and now Oliveira de Azeméis, the company is working on the transition from the production unit to the new one, which is due to be completed by the end of this year. The production of men’s footwear also keeps the brand’s artisanal spirit alive, as it retains its manual component, essentially in the process of painting and making soles.
