Mada: meet Tinder for clothing
Madison Semarjian was a college freshman when she had the idea of creating a Tinder like app for clothing. The idea was to use AI to learn her personal style and then pull together outfits from a wide range of retailers
On the words of the founder, Mada (pronounced Mah-dah) started in a "dorm room getting ready for a first date, when one friend posed one very important question: why don’t you just wear what makes you feel most like you?".
Working from the concept that it is not about how you look, but how you feel, that the Mada app was created. After four years of studying, dreaming, failing, and flying, the native app, Mada, was launched in January 2020. Mada uses proprietary artificial intelligence and human tastemakers to instantaneously recommend personalized outfits, all available for purchase through universal checkout.
Mada has partnered with brands and retailers, like Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Shopbop, Urban Outfitters, and more, to create a futuristic retail, wrapped up in styling, shopping and discovery: it is like "having a fashionable best friend and personal stylist in your pocket".
