Lavoro aims to take a one-third share of the security and defence market by 2030
The Portuguese company that specialises in the production of professional footwear, has set itself the target of producing and marketing a third of the Portuguese security and defence needs by 2030
Facing a market size of 260,000 pairs of technical footwear per year, worth 36 million euros, Lavoro, a Portuguese company that specialises in the production of professional footwear, has set itself the target of producing and marketing a third of the national security and defence needs by 2030.

The Guimarães-based company participated in SEGUREX 2025, the largest national exhibition dedicated to security, protection, and defence. This took place at FIL in Lisbon. A regular exhibitor at the event, Lavoro once again showcased its extensive range of technical footwear for firefighters, military personnel, and security forces. The company reinforced its position as a leading European innovator in workplace foot protection.

At the Lavoro stand, visitors could see the latest models designed for high-risk contexts, including intervention boots, tactical footwear, and solutions tailored to emergency environments. These products combine technology, comfort, and durability, the result of engineering focused on safety and performance.

“If professional footwear is uncomfortable, safety is compromised. That is why, at Lavoro, we draw on 40 years of knowledge and experience in the field of professional footwear, as well as comprehensive material selection and laboratory testing capabilities, a large multidisciplinary team, and the support of SPODOS and a number of scientific partners, both national and international, to promote foot safety and health in the workplace”, says Teófilo Leite, chairman of the board of directors of ICC – Indústrias e Comércio de Calçado, SA, which owns the Lavoro brand.

Many firefighters, military personnel, police officers, prison guards and security professionals visited the brand’s stand at the event. Following a thorough assessment of the footwear they usually wear, conducted in collaboration with the SPODOS Foot Science Centre, each visitor was recommended a Lavoro model that best suited their physical or work needs. In cases of foot pathology, appropriate advice was provided by podiatrists or biomedical engineers – professionals whose principles underpin the development of Lavoro footwear.

Lavoro belongs to Indústrias e Comércio de Calçado, SA (ICC), and aims to lead Portuguese production of professional footwear for a variety of work environments.
