Kering Foundation launches research programme on violence against women and children
In partnership with McGill University and the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI), the Kering Foundation is launching a research programme that addresses the intersection between violence against women and children
McGill will enhance doctoral and postdoctoral training by providing hands-on research opportunities, such as working on evidence-based family violence prevention strategies, child protection policies and international projects that amplify the voices of children and caregivers in out-of-home care settings in Canada and France.

The SVRI will bolster the evidence base on the links between violence against women and children by supporting early-career researchers in low- and middle-income countries through fellowships, capacity-building initiatives, and partnerships aimed at advancing research and driving change.

Meanwhile, the Kering Foundation multi-year Research Programme will host joint events, webinars, and advocacy initiatives to share findings, inform policy, and encourage cross-sector dialogue. By supporting emerging researchers and encouraging global collaboration, the Foundation aims to strengthen research into the links between gender-based violence and violence against children, helping identify effective solutions in the form of programmes, services and interventions.

“Over the past 17 years, we have seen how combining efforts can yield effective and lasting results in the fight against women and children. I am therefore delighted to launch this new research programme with two leading experts in this field who have extensive experience not only in fundamental research, but also in disseminating and promoting community-based solutions to violence”, said François-Henri Pinault, Chairman of the Kering Foundation.

Established in 2008, the Kering Foundation is committed to ending violence against women and children. It does this by supporting survivor services, prevention initiatives, and safe workplaces. Operating in France, Italy, Korea, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the United States, it has supported one million women in partnership with over 100 non-profits.
