Harvey Nichols appoints new CEO
The British department store Harvey Nichols has announced the appointment of Julia Goddard as CEO. She joins the company from Alexander McQueen, where she spent 14 years
Goddard will join Harvey Nichols in June from Alexander McQueen, where she has worked for 14 years, most recently as president of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Under her leadership since 2019, the brand has seen significant expansion in wholesale and retail channels across the region. Before, she was the global wholesale, franchise and e-concession director.

“Julia is a dynamic business leader with a strong track record of delivering quality growth and successfully developing and executing a very important customer (VIC) clienteling strategy. Her expertise and strategic capabilities will be invaluable in delivering long-term sustainable growth for Harvey Nichols”, commented Pearson Poon, chairman and vice chairman of the UK-based retailer.

Harvey Nichols has been looking for a CEO since the departure of Manju Malhotra in 2023, after more than 25 years in the role.

The move comes at a challenging time for the business. Already facing stiff competition from the luxury department store Harrods, Harvey Nichols is undergoing a major reorganisation to improve profitability, which could result in around 5% of its workforce being made redundant.
