Footwear exports down in Pakistan
In the first five months of the current financial year, Pakistan registered sales abroad of 4.45 million pairs of shoes. Value of exports, totaling 39.49 million US dollars, was down by 24.57%
Quantities of exported footwear in November increased compared to similar period in 2014, going from 0.78 million pairs to 1.19 million pairs. In value terms, exports of footwear declined from 8.65 million US dollars in November 2014 to 8.43 million US dollars in September 2015, according to data recently released by PBS (Pakistan Bureau of Statistics). Leather footwear, representing 81.43% in total exported footwear, increased the volume of exports (+27.22%), despite a decline in value (-10.56%), going from 3.50 million US dollars in November 2014 to 6.86 million US dollars in November 2015.

During the period July 2015 – November 2015 Pakistan exported 4.45 million pairs of shoes, valued at 39.49 million US dollars. This compares to exports of 5.09 million pairs valued at 52.36 million US dollars in similar period in 2014 and reflects declines of 12.72% in quantity and 24.57% in value.

Leather footwear sales, representing the largest share in footwear exports in the period (79.77%), reached 31.50 million US dollars and went down by 30.79% during the first five months of the year (quantities down by 12.61% during the period).

According to the World Footwear Yearbook, in 2014 Pakistan exported 48 million pairs of footwear valued at 131 million US dollars.
