Barefoot European Shoe Fair makes its debut in Offenbach

Europe’s first barefoot footwear trade fair, from the 31st of July to the 3rd of August, will welcome international exhibitors, market research and interactive experiences in a growing market niche

The inaugural edition of the Barefoot European Shoe Fair is set to take place in Offenbach, Germany, from the end of July through early August 2025. Positioned as Europe’s first trade fair dedicated entirely to the barefoot shoe segment, the event will host 71 exhibitors representing 79 brands. According to a press release, interest has exceeded expectations, with two-thirds of participants coming from abroad, including countries such as Brazil, Spain and the Netherlands. The fair will occupy two halls totalling 1,000 square metres, with the full event space, including outdoor areas and a stage, spanning more than 3,000 square metres.

Organised by Messe Offenbach in partnership with the German Federal Association of the Footwear and Leather Goods Industry (HDS/L), the fair aims to support both trade and consumer engagement. The first two days will be reserved for industry professionals, while the weekend will be open to end consumers. The event’s broader ambition is to promote awareness of healthy, natural walking habits through the concept of barefoot shoes. According to HDS/L’s Deputy Managing Director, Torben Schütz, the fair intends not only to present new collections but also to position itself as a standard-setting platform within the sector.

Beyond product displays, the fair offers an extensive supporting programme designed to inform and engage. Activities include the presentation of market research, expert lectures, workshops and panel discussions covering the key trends and challenges within the barefoot footwear space. A barefoot trail will also allow visitors to test and experience the products firsthand, enhancing their understanding of the benefits of barefoot walking.
