Sri Lanka and Pakistan to strengthen their ties
The Consul General of Sri Lanka in Pakistan and representatives of the Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association (PFMA) gathered to discuss further opportunities of developing the ties within the footwear sector in both countries
Both parties have agreed to stimulate the development of bilateral relations between businessmen community of footwear sectors of Pakistan and Sri Lanka to take advantage of their experiences and known how and grow on the volume of business made by both countries. The representatives from Pakistan and Sri Lanka underlined and agreed on the importance of including footwear in next phase of FTA boosting trade relations. Another point needing to be addressed comes from the need to provide the necessary measures to facilitate business.

According to several news reports in Pakistan, the PFMA Chairman, Mr Hussan Javed commented: “ In current difficult situation it’s a good omen that foreign investors trust has been restored and they are confident to do business with us. We welcome Sri Lankan offer of forging bilateral business relationship with footwear industry of Pakistan which holds great potential of producing quality footwears not only for local market but can export to Europe and American Markets. This is the right time to make this sector a leading exporting industry of Pakistan by exploring and penetrating in foreign markets with finest products and competing with International Brands”
