Manuel Rios re-elected Cotance President
Manuel Rios has been unanimously re-elected as President of the European leather industry body for the next two years at the recent General Assembly held on the 15th of May
Manuel Rios, CEO of Inpelsa, the leading Spanish sheepskin tannery based in Valencia, has been re-elected to lead the Confederation of National Associations of Tanners and Dressers of the European Community (Cotance) for a further two years. He will be assisted by Vice-Presidents Fabrizio Nuti (Italy), Jean Christophe Muller (France) and Rino Mastrotto (Italy). At the Assembly, Philippe Joucla (France), outgoing Vice-President, was thanked for his term in the organisation’s Presidency.

I am very proud of the trust received from my peers for leading our industry in these complicated times, and happy for the support of my colleagues in the Cotance Presidency. We will not refrain from efforts to ensure that our EU authorities know the needs of our companies”.

In this context, Rios highlighted the importance of the Cotance Manifesto, which was adopted by delegates from Italy, France, Spain, Germany, the UK, Portugal, and Hungary attending the Assembly. The document includes 3 main areas - Sustainability and Circularity, Industry and Trade and Investment, Research, Innovation and Skills - and a total of 10 actions to address the needs of the industry from Europe in the face of upcoming new legislation.

“Let’s use it extensively so that our political leaders in the EU and at home understand what we need. We cannot afford more spanners in the works. What we need is support and not attacks!”, urged the re-appointed President of Cotance.
