Lily Cole launches limited edition footwear line
The soles of the shoes are made from Amazonian wild rubber from the Sky Rainforest Rescue project area and the line is launched in collaboration with Veja
Actress and model, English Lily Cole, also known by her work as an environmental activist and as an ambassador for Sky Rainforest Rescue, is now launching her first footwear collection. Lily designed a line made from sustainably produced Amazonian wild rubber and has teamed up with the French ecological shoe and accessory brand Veja to create a range of canvas trainers. The shoe collection features rainforest designs (such as hummingbirds and wild mushrooms) inspired by her trip to the Amazon in 2012.

Lily Cole’s limited-edition shoe collection with Veja is on sale since the 2nd of June at Offspring concessions in Selfridges (London & Manchester) and Topshop (Oxford Street store in London) and online at (Veja, Sarenja and Impossible). Sky announced they will donate £10 for every pair sold to help support the livelihood of a local rubber tapper, by enabling them to tap and care for six more trees. Prices start at £55 for low top trainer known as Veja Taua Amazon in Oxford Grey and go up to £65 for the mid top trainer Veja Taua Mid Amazon in Clementine and Nautico.

Veja is a brand of ecological and fair trade footwear and accessories. Created from the wish to set up a new kind of fashion, the company works with cooperatives of small producers and social associations, namely in Brazil. The company uses Amazonian wild rubber to make the soles of all its footwear, and prides itself of buying the rubber at a price that guarantees a better income for the rubber tappers.

Sky Rainforest Rescue raises funds to support local people in the Amazon and helping them to find ways of making a fair living from the forest without cutting down the trees. By doing this, Sky Rainforest Rescue works with WWF, an independent conservation organization working with governments, businesses and communities in the UK and throughout the world. WWF works towards the harmony of locals with nature, as  they base their work on safeguarding the natural world, tackling climate change and helping change the way we live, so people can live within the planet’s limited natural resources.
