Gerry Weber closes all its stores, sells trademark rights

The German fashion retailer is closing all its stores in Germany and Europe while selling its trademark rights to Spanish retailer Victrix. This follows its third insolvency in a few years
After more than 50 years on the market, Gerry Weber is closing all its remaining stores in Germany and Europe. This includes around 40 stores in Germany, as well as other outlets abroad, which are set to be sold off. This is the result of the third insolvency proceedings in six years, which were opened in March 2025. Previous attempts to restructure the company have ultimately been unsuccessful.
Around 280 staff members at the Halle headquarters are expected to lose their jobs, with employees reportedly being advised to register as unemployed. Only those involved in winding down operations will remain. The group also employs around 400 people abroad, including in Austria, where insolvency proceedings are underway for its subsidiaries.
The Spanish family-owned Victrix Group, which owns the Punt Roma brand, is set to acquire the trademark rights to Gerry Weber as part of an asset deal. This follows the approval of the takeover plan by the creditors’ committee and provisional administrator Lucas Flöther.
The new brand owner plans to take charge of production and sell Gerry Weber women’s fashion in Germany via retail partners, seeking to position the brand in the upper mid-price segment. The new owner will also be responsible for designing future collections.
