Futurmoda ends with strong international turnout
The Elche trade fair, Futurmoda, drew more than 4,000 industry visitors, bringing together suppliers and buyers and highlighting fresh commercial leads. The next edition is scheduled for October 2026
The 55th edition of Futurmoda has closed in Elche, attracting more than 4,100 industry professionals and signalling steady momentum for the Spanish trade fair focused on components and technology for footwear and leather goods.

Held over two days at IFA - Fira Alacant, the event brought together suppliers and buyers seeking updates on components, leathers, textiles, machinery and other technical solutions used in manufacturing.

International

Attendance reflected a notably international mix, with professionals travelling from multiple European markets as well as further afield, including Italy, Portugal, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Turkey and China, alongside a large domestic presence.

Álvaro Sánchez, Futurmoda’s Director, described visitor numbers as exceeding initial expectations and pointed to the breadth of nationalities as a sign of continued interest in the fair as a meeting point for the sector.

Network

Exhibitors reported a high proportion of specialised visitors and a strong volume of business meetings, with many highlighting the number and quality of commercial leads generated during the show.

Sánchez also framed the turnout as an indicator of manufacturers’ ongoing commitment to production in Spain, adding that the atmosphere on the show floor supported active networking and deal-making.

Importance

The second day included a visit from national deputy Alejandro Soler, who highlighted the strategic importance of footwear components to Spain’s economy and cited Alicante province as one of the country’s major footwear industrial hubs.

Soler argued for continued policy support to strengthen competitiveness, including measures that encourage industrial investment, innovation, research and development, and long-term resilience in European and international markets.

Parallel Events

Beyond the exhibition stands, the programme highlighted themes shaping the sector’s direction, with the Expert Forum addressing topics such as artificial intelligence in footwear, industrial digitalisation, sustainability, internationalisation and specialised training.

The Green Planet area showcased sustainable materials and circular-economy projects focused on traceability and responsible production. This area highlights the industry’s growing focus on embedding environmental criteria into manufacturing practices and on developing new materials.

The 56th edition of Futurmoda is scheduled for the 14th and 15th of October, 2026.
