Footwear industry in Pakistan with dynamic growth
Exports of Pakistani footwear increased by 21.1% during the first five months of the current fiscal year (July-November), as compared to similar period in 2013
During the period July – November 2014 Pakistan exported 5.6 million pairs of shoes, valued at 51.8 million US dollars. This compares to exports of 42.8 million US dollars in similar period in 2013 and reflects a growth rate of 21.1%, according to data recently released by PBS, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

Leather footwear sales reached 45.0 million US dollars and represented the largest share in footwear exports (86.9%). This category was also the one with the best performance when compared to similar period in 2013, as exports of leather footwear went up by 25.9% during the first five months of the year.

Trade of canvas footwear also increased by 8.5% in value, going up from 11 thousand exported pairs to 14 thousand pairs sold abroad.

Looking into the industry’s performance in November footwear exports increased by 36.1% from 6.3 million US dollars to 8.6 million US dollars. During the month under review, exports of leather footwear increased by 32.7% 5.5 million US dollars to 7.3 million US dollars.
