Aquazzura with legal action against Steve Madden
The Italy-based company is seeking protection for its designs. A suit has been filled at a federal court in New York
Aquazzura claism that three Steve Madden styles (Sharlit, Lecrew, Sassey) have a close resemble with its Sexy Thing, Christy and Wild Thing models.
Aquazzura claims the legal action against Steve Madden results from repeated copycatting. The Italian shoemaker says it has complained to Steve Madden since 2013, but no change in behavior was registered.
In a statement, Aquazzura gives its reasoning for the suit, saying it is guarding against confusion in the marketplace. Similar to Ivanka Trump’s collection, Steve Madden styles sell for less than the Aquazzura models.
