Louis Vuitton expands French manufacturing
The French-based luxury house is expanding its leather goods and handbag production with two new workshops in western France
The brand, originally known for its travel trunks, is planning to hire 500 people for the two sites, bringing its leather goods specialists count to around 4 000 people.

One site will open by July this year, and another by early 2019. A third new opening could be in the pipeline for later next year as it looks to meet growing demand.

Louis Vuitton manufactures the majority of its leather goods in its home market, maximizing on the “Made in France” tag. The brand, owning all of its own stores, is looking to cut lead times and better respond to sales trends and market demands.

Besides the units in home country France, Louis Vuitton has workshops in Spain and production facilities in Portugal and Romania where it makes some of the components for its leather products such as luggage handles.
