Swiss brand honoured for circular footwear design

Awarded by the Swiss American Chamber of Commerce, Crimagno was praised for its recyclable, genderless footwear made from sustainable materials and its commitment to environmental and social impact
The Swiss ethical footwear brand, Crimagno, recognised for its fusion of sustainability and contemporary luxury, has been awarded the Avantgarde Award 2025 by the Swiss American Chamber of Commerce in Southern California.
The honour was presented at the organisation’s Avantgarde Gala, an event that recognises companies that demonstrate vision, innovation and societal contribution within the global Swiss community.
The selection committee highlighted Crimagno’s work in redefining fashion through sustainable technology, circular design practices and a strong environmental and social ethos. The brand’s approach positions it at the forefront of a movement calling for greater accountability in the luxury sector and for creative solutions to material waste.
About Crimagno
Founded on the belief that luxury and responsibility should operate hand in hand, the company produces hybrid, genderless footwear crafted from upcycled materials derived from food industry by-products, including citrus, corn, apple and mushroom-based alternatives.
Handmade in Italy and designed in Switzerland, each pair is designed to be fully recyclable, and the business repurposes used shoes into items such as athletic surfaces and sound-absorbing panels.
We have previously interviewed one of its founders, Cristiano Magnoni. In the interview, we talked about Crimagno in more detail, exploring their industrial approach to design, material sustainability and local sourcing. You can read this interview here.
