Soles4Souls raises over 393 thousand USD in its annual fundraiser

The Nashville-based non-profit organisation has raised over 393 821 US dollars at its annual fundraiser, enabling it to provide more than 24 000 homeless students with a pair of shoes

In May, Soles4Souls, a non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming shoes and clothing into opportunities, held its fifth annual Race4EveryKid event, raising 393 821 US dollars. These funds will help the organisation provide 2 600 pairs of shoes to children experiencing homelessness throughout the United States (US).

According to the organisation, there are currently more than 1.2 million homeless children in the US. To support these children, participants in Race4EveryKid ran or walked a combined total of over 34 711 miles. For every 20 US dollars raised, the Soles4Souls’ 4EveryKid initiative provided a child experiencing homelessness with a brand-new pair of shoes – helping them to attend school, stay active, and participate fully in daily life.

The event was sponsored by QTS, Voya Financial, Atlanta Shoe Market and American Exchange Group.

“We’re incredibly proud of what our community accomplished during this year’s Race4EveryKid. The dedication of our participants, sponsors, partners and board members shows what’s possible when we unite around a shared purpose”, commented Buddy Teaster, CEO and President of Soles4Souls.

In a statement, Soles4Souls also recognised the contributions made by its board members. Steve Reynolds, the CEO of Jade Footwear USA, donated about 15 900 US dollars. Matt Priest, CEO and president of the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA), secured about 9 235 US dollars, while Dan Friedman, Caleres’ chief sourcing and supply chain officer, contributed about 8 780 US dollars.
