Skechers' BOBS initiative reaches major charitable milestone
The US-based company surpassed 12 million US dollars in donations through the sales of BOBS products, which has helped over 2.2 million shelter pets across the US, Canada, the UK and Japan
Skechers has marked a philanthropic milestone in this year’s Giving Tuesday, announcing that its BOBS from Skechers initiative has surpassed 12 million US dollars in total donations since its inception in 2015. The funds generated through sales of BOBS products have aided over 2.2 million shelter pets across the United States, Canada, the UK and Japan.
In partnership with Petco Love and its network of 4,000 animal welfare organisations, the initiative has provided grants for shelters, disaster relief and adoption events, alleviating overcrowding and ensuring the survival of countless animals. Michael Greenberg, Skechers’ President, highlighted the programme’s impact on the company’s employees, inspiring initiatives like adoption drives and the Paws for a Cause Design Scholarship.
Susanne Kogut, President at Petco Love, expressed gratitude for Skechers’ dedication, noting that the company has contributed over 8.4 million US dollars. Beyond North America, Skechers has extended its charitable reach globally through partnerships with Woodgreen Pets Charity in the UK and ALMA in Japan. These collaborations have funded adoption, vaccination events and supported welfare organisations through register round-ups at Skechers stores and purchases of BOBS products.
Paws for a Cause Design Scholarship
In 2023, Skechers launched the Paws for a Cause Design Scholarship, awarding 10,000 US dollars in scholarships and mentorship opportunities to students whose designs are featured in the BOBS collection. This initiative complements other events to raise awareness and encourage adoptions, including televised gatherings like the Stanley Pup and Pawlympics at LA Coliseum.
