Saks Global to close nine stores as part of strategic store footprint optimisation

The group of high-end department stores said it would be closing eight Saks Fifth Avenue stores and one Neiman Marcus location as part of a broader plan to restructure and optimise its footprint
This announcement, which was referred to as the “initial phase of optimisation” across the Saks Fifth Avenue and the Neiman Marcus store footprint, comes after Saks Global filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January 2026.
The stores set to close are located in Birmingham, Columbus, East Rutherford, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Richmond and Tulsa, as well as the Neiman Marcus store at Copley Place in Boston. Fourteen Fifth Avenue Club personal shopping service locations will also close, leaving just two in operation. There will be no changes to Bergdorf Goodman's operational footprint.
According to Geoffroy van Raemdonck, Chief Executive Officer of Saks Global, the optimisation of the store footprint will leave Saks “better positioned to deliver exceptional products, elevated experiences and highly personalized service across all channels, while simultaneously positioning our company to make investments that enable long-term growth and value creation”.
Additionally, the group is shutting down Horchow.com and transitioning the Horchow luxury designer home furnishings range to NeimanMarcus.com, starting on the 19th of February.
