Pandemic has changed consumer habits
London-based data and analysis company YouGov surveyed more than 19.000 consumers in 17 markets worldwide to find out about their shopping behaviours. The main findings were revealed in their latest Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Report 2021
59% of the enquired consumers (in all the studied markets) agreed that their shopping habits have definitely changed as a result of the pandemic. Shopping behaviour has changed the least in Denmark (44%), France (46%) and Germany (47%), who are "more connected" to the physical shopping experience than the other 14 countries surveyed. German respondents were also reluctant (26%) in their intentions to make more use of online shopping/online delivery in the post-COVID period. The international average for this question was 42%.

The majority of consumers surveyed (54%) said they would pay more attention to sustainability in their purchasing decisions once the pandemic is over. The three markets where consumer intent is lowest are all European, with only a third of Danish (33%), Swedish (34%) and German (35%) respondents saying they plan to buy more sustainably.
