Novo Hamburgo welcomes first Zero+ edition

Exhibitors reported positive results at the event, which gathered 150 brands and international visitors, while organisers outlined plans to expand the fair amid shifting consumer behaviour in Brazil
The debut edition of Zero+, the footwear and accessories trade fair held for the first time in Novo Hamburgo, closed with positive feedback from organisers and exhibitors. Previously known as Zero Grau, the event marked the arrival of the show in Brazil’s main footwear-producing city, Novo Hamburgo.
The inaugural edition gathered around 150 brands from the footwear and accessories segments. The fair also attracted interest from international buyers, with importers from Paraguay and Argentina present to explore new collections.
According to Roberta Pletsch, Director of Merkator, the event organiser, many exhibitors reported successful sales, easing concerns about the fair’s relocation from Gramado.
Despite the encouraging results, Merkator acknowledged that the broader footwear market is experiencing shifts in consumer behaviour.
Pletsch noted that retailers across Brazil are facing slower turnover, reflecting a more cautious consumer profile and tightening spending habits. This environment, the Director suggested, is influencing business outcomes and shaping expectations for sector events such as Zero+.
Looking ahead, Merkator is working to broaden the fair’s reach and strengthen participation among exhibitors and retailers. During the event, the organisers met with local commercial representatives responsible for a footwear showroom in Novo Hamburgo to discuss potential collaboration.
The next edition of Zero+ is scheduled to take place at Novo Hamburgo from the 11th to the 13th of January 2027.
