Footwear company raises 100 000 US dollars in two days on Kickstarter
Last week startup Thursday Boot Co. debuted on Kickstarter, the crowdfunding platform, with an aim to raise 30 000 US dollars for its new shoeline. In a couple of days the funding goal was more than doubled

Crowdfunding consists of financial contributions of many online investors, sponsors, donors or investors who finance initiatives or entities with or without profit. The crowd or online community can be formed by family and friends, friends of friends, anonymous individuals or even companies.

Kickstarter is a global crowdfunding platform based in the United States, which allegedly received over 1 billion US dollars in pledges from 5.7 million donors to fund 135 000 projects, which include films, music, stage shows, comics, journalism, video games, and food-related projects.

Thursday Boot Co.’s, a start up footwear company based in New York, had its first experience at Kickstarter last week. With a project to raise 30 thousand US dollars, they have managed not only to achieve their initial goal, but also to gather roughly 100 000 US dollars in just two days.

Thursday Boots are built with Goodyear welt construction, Chromexcel and Thursday Chrome leathers, low-profile studded rubber outsoles, cork bed midsoles, an EVA Comfort Strip used in premium athletic shoes, and glove leather interior lining.

Thursday Boot Co. team commented: “Every aspect of our boots is designed with comfort in mind. It all starts with the ‘last’ (the mold that creates the shape of the boot). After a time-consuming and expensive last making process, we created the ergonomic ‘Equilibrium’ last for our Diplomat boot and the sleek yet functional ‘Foundation’ last for our President and Captain boots. Both lasts are engineered to ensure that our boots support your feet in all of the right places....We knew exactly what we wanted in a boot – something that was durable, sophisticated and versatile enough for our busy lifestyles. With that in mind, we set out to build a boot that could handle the long work days and equally long nights. After working 7 days a week for months (seriously), we developed partnerships with the best suppliers and manufacturers in North America to make our passion project a reality.”
