Clarks to accelerate European retail expansion

Following the opening of a new store in Italy, the UK-based footwear brand announced plans to open between 15 and 20 new stores across Europe this year
Clarks is expanding its retail network as it focuses on further growth in Europe. The company plans to open 15 to 20 new stores across Europe this year, including in France, Belgium and the UK. It also announced an expansion of its wholesale operations across the continent, with at least 120 new points of sale.
This news followed the opening of a new store at the Santangelo Outlet Village in Italy. “Italy is one of our most important European markets, with a strong historical connection to the brand and significant future opportunities”, highlighted Joe Ulloa, the brand’s president for the UK and Europe.
The company revealed as well a change in its approach to the Spanish market. Following previous store openings in Barcelona and Bilbao, the company will now manage the Spanish market from a new team and showroom in Madrid. In addition, it is developing its third-party marketplace channel and launched its own marketplace in the UK featuring over 60 complementary brands.
“Across Europe, we are investing in the right stores, strengthening our wholesale operations, building new partnerships, and enhancing the value we offer to customers”, summed up Ulloa.
