Christian Decker leaves DESMA

The managing director of the Germany-based footwear machinery manufacturer has left the company after 28 years, 17 of which were spent in this leadership role
Christian Decker is no longer the managing director of DESMA, having left the company on the 31st of March. In a LinkedIn post, he said; “After 28 years at Desma, including 17 years as Managing Director, I have decided that this is the right moment to move on and begin a new chapter”.
Driven by the question “What is technologically possible – and how can it be translated into tangible business impact for the footwear industry?”, he played a key role in shaping the company’s technological development and driving innovation in industrial footwear production.
“In the industrial footwear industry, a significant share of innovations introduced over the past decades can be traced – directly or indirectly – back to developments created in close collaboration with Desma’s customers and partners”, he added, emphasising that the most important thing was to help customers and industrial producers to become more competitive, improve their performance and create sustainable value.
Although his next step is not yet known, he concluded, “the intersection of innovation, technology, and business models remains full of opportunity. I am confident that I will continue to explore exciting pathways in this space”.
