Capri Holdings acquires the Italian shoemaker Sicla

Capri Holdings acquires the Italian shoemaker Sicla
The US-based conglomerate has signed an agreement to buy Sicla, the Tuscan shoemaker known for producing some of its Jimmy Choo’s collections. The move is designed to strengthen Capri’s manufacturing capabilities
Founded in 1979 by Enzo Donnini, Sicla will continue to be run by the founding family and the new ownership shift is not expected to modify the know-how of the company. Capri has indeed committed to “retain the level of its offering, products and its team of talent-filled artisans” (laconceria.it). The Tuscan shoemaker employs close to 250 people.

This acquisition is the second of its kind for Capri Holdings in Italy. In 2019, the parent company of the Michael Kors, Versace and Jimmy Choo brands had already purchased a Tuscan shoemaker, Alberto Gozzi, based in Pistoia.

Tuscany is proving to be a key location for the US group’s investments in leather goods production. The luxury footwear brand Jimmy Shoe recently announced plans to move to larger headquarters in Scandicci, near Florence, by the end of 2024 (us.fashionnetwork.com).
