Bata Group appoints Panos Mytaros as CEO
The Swiss-based footwear group has appointed the former CEO of Danish group Ecco, Panos Mytaros, as its new head. He will join in September, taking over from Sandeep Kataria
Sandeep Kataria has led the footwear group since 2020, when he took over from Alexis Nasard, who had also run Bata for around five years. Bata highlighted that he conducted the company “through a significant period of transformation, navigating the challenges of a global pandemic and a fast-evolving retail landscape”.

“Under his leadership, Bata accelerated its digital agenda, streamlined operations, expanded into new markets, modernized business practices, and laid the foundations for future growth”, the company added.

Mytaros, who will take up the position on the 15th of September, will bring over 30 years’ experience in the footwear sector to the role. He was Ecco’s CEO from 2021 to 2024, having worked for the Danish company for 27 years.

Graham Allan, Chairman of the Bata Group, said: “His track record in brand building, developing compelling footwear collections and leading complex international organisations made him the ideal candidate to guide Bata through our next phase of growth.”

Bata has a 130-year history and is known for its stylish and affordable designs. It has over 5 800 stores in 48 countries worldwide.
