VF Corp announces sale of Dickies to Bluestar Alliance
The US-based outdoor and activewear group has entered into a definitive agreement with the management firm Bluestar Alliance to sell the Dickies brand for 600 million US dollars in cash
Dickies is the latest underperforming brand to be dropped by VF Corporation, which owns brands such as Vans, The North Face and Timberland. The 600 million US dollar deal is expected to close by the end of the year, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

Founded in 1922, Dickies is an American heritage brand with a presence in 55 countries, known for its durable workwear. The brand has also gained cultural relevance in the streetwear market, appealing to a range of generations by combining utility with style, according to VF’s statement.

“Dickies is an iconic American workwear brand with a bright future, and I am confident that under Bluestar Alliance’s ownership, it will continue to improve and realize its significant growth potential”, commented VF’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Bracken Darrell. He pointed out that this transaction will enable the group to reduce its net debt and will contribute to pro-forma growth.

Joseph Gabbay, CEO, Bluestar Alliance, said: “We have followed the brand for many years and have a deep appreciation for its history and legacy, which VF Corporation has successfully begun to rebuild over the past few years. We are committed to supporting the Dickies brand’s growth by leveraging our consumer insights and operational excellence to unlock its full value for all stakeholders”.
