Skechers President Michael Greenberg joins Footwear News Hall of Fame

In recognition of his long-standing contribution to the company’s growth and philanthropic efforts, Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers, has been inducted into the Footwear News Hall of Fame
“Michael not only co-founded a wildly successful company together with his father, Robert, but did so with a philanthropic spirit from the very beginning that has benefited so many lives both within and beyond the industry”, commented Michael Atmore, Editor-in-Chief of WWD and Footwear News and Chief Brand Officer of Fairchild Media. “His talents are vast, and his thoughtfulness is legendary”.
Michael Greenberg played a central role in shaping the brand and growth of Skechers alongside CEO Robert Greenberg and COO David Weinberg. He led the company’s IPO in 1999 and increased annual sales from 1 billion US dollars in 2005 to 9 billion by 2024. More recently, he took the company private.
Together with the executive team, he also built Skechers’ global retail presence, from launching the first store in Southern California to rolling out immersive World of Sports locations this year that showcase the brand’s performance technologies and strengthen its position in professional sports.
“It’s an incredible honour to receive the Hall of Fame award, and to have had Skechers acknowledged by Footwear News as Company of the Year three times in our history. I’m sharing this with our many leaders and team members around the world who have helped realize our ambitious vision for Skechers, and who pour their hearts and souls into delivering a comfort lifestyle and performance brand that’s recognized and sought after globally”, said Michael Greenberg
Greenberg previously received the Person of the Year award from Footwear News in both 2000 and 2023. His father, Robert Greenberg, also received the organisation’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015. Skechers won Footwear News’ Company of the Year award in 1998, 2014, and 2022, as well as the Icon for Social Impact award in 2024.
Outside business, Michael Greenberg is deeply involved in philanthropy through the Skechers Foundation, supporting disaster relief and global social causes. He helped establish the BOBS® from Skechers® programme, which has provided 16 million pairs of shoes to children in need and raised 14 million US dollars for shelter animals. The Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk event has also raised over 31 million US dollars to support children with special needs, educational initiatives, and scholarships.
