Vietnam gains importance as EU footwear supplier
Lefaso, the Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association reported that last year the country export 4.88 billion US dollars’ worth of footwear to the EU
According to Lefaso this resulted in a year-on-year growth of 20% setting a new record high in the 2010-2014 period.

Biggest footwear importers from Vietnam included France, Germany, the UK and Spain. The Vietnam Association gave special highlight to France, which imported approximately 830 million US dollars of footwear products, accounting for 16.82% of Vietnam’s total footwear export turnover to the EU.

The Vietnam Customs announced that in the first half of 2015, Vietnam’s footwear shipment to the EU resulted in revenue of roughly 2 billion US dollars, representing a year-on-year increase of 17%.

Last week, the Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade has reported that total export turnover of footwear was estimated to hit 8.8 US billion dollars during the first nine months this year, a year on year increase of 18.4%. This seems to indicate that the target of 14-15 billion US dollars set for footwear export turnover in 2015 will be accessible.
