Twingo Stiletto by Luís Onofre

The internationally acclaimed shoe designer created an innovative solution for women driving with their stilettos. The advertising campaign behind it just won an award at the Cannes Lions 2015

“Wearing high heels is one of the greatest sacrifices women make to look fabulous”, says Luís Onofre.
Driving with stilettos is probably an even bigger challenge. Bearing this in mind, automobile brand, Renault, has presented a challenge the famous shoe designer.

When launching and promoting a new Twingo model, they have asked Luís Onofre to create a high-heeled shoe that was both desirable to wear and fit to drive.

Inspiration came out of the car, colors and design wise, but also in terms of the materials used as it was important to ensure the shoe had unique characteristics making it fit for driving. All these reasons together resulted in the usage of perforated leather, commonly found on steering-wheels and driving gloves, and the integration of a runner piece in the sole (to increase the shoe’s grip).

The final touch was a special accessory to be place to the heel before driving: a stiletto cap, which is a piece wrapping the heel, enlarging its basis ad increasing stability and support, while it covers the counter of the shoe protecting this area often damaged by the driving process.

Now, the launching campaign develop by Publicis Lisboa has won the bronze lion award in the PR category in the famous Cannes Lions, the International Festival of Creativity.
